Wander the Waves

Elba, Corsica and Sardinia. All disctinctly Mediterranean, but each distinctly different. The landscape, the history, the people - our adventure around these famous islands will be anything but bland. 

Starting in beautiful Tuscany, we sail towards the the island of Elba, with it's sandy beaches, numerous anchorages, crystal clear waters and picturesque fishing villages. Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled to this island, and in all honesty, it doesn't look like a bad prison sentence at all! 

Sailing towards northern Corsica, we may have a short stopover at the former penal island of Capraia.

Corsica is a chapter of its own. Wild, rugged, unspoilt, dramatic, beautiful, and proud. Those are just a few words describing both the people and the coastline of this fabled mountainous island. The western side is indented with numerous white-beached coves, often hiding old towns and providing shelter against quite frequent Mistral, a northerly wind that can plough up the Western Mediterranean with waves you would rather expect on the ocean. Sailing south towards Bonifacio straits (with it's legendary, cliff hanging houses), a whole new world opens up. Numerous islands of the La Maddalena National Park, and Sardinia's Costa Smeralda (Emerald coast) are worthy of being called one of the finest cruising grounds in the world. 

Sardinia welcomes you with a distinct Italian feel - somewhat happier, less rugged, but dramatic in it's own right. Costa Smeralda is where the richest of the rich gather during high summer to show off their superyachts and for a good reason. The islands, coves, beaches, rustic towns, and turquoise water is as close to paradise as it gets. We  get to enjoy it, but not in the over-crowded conditions as it is during the Italian high holiday season. 

The end of our adventure will take us north along the eastern coast of Corsica, and an open sea crossing to Elba, where we will enjoy the numerous bays and beaches before finally heading back to the mainland. 

The adventure itinerary is dictated by the weather, as the Mistral can, on occasions, blow strong enough to limit the Western mediterranean operations. 

As with our Swedish adventure, due to the itinerary dictated by the weather and tailored to your needs, marina fees are not included. Budget for about €10 pp per occasional overnight stay. Everything else aboard included.

Expect to sail about 500nM, a few overnight crossings, and explore the unparalleled scenery that Corsica and Sardinia have to offer.
