Ever wondered how Scotland would look like if it was basking in the sub-tropical sun? Then you must sail Galicia! Not your typical charter destination, our unique sailing adventure will literally take you to the End of the World, or Finisterre, where back in the days people believed was nothing but the Ocean.
North West Spain is unlike anything else in Europe. Its coast, indented by deep and dramatic Rías, is reminiscent of Scottish Lochs and Norwegian Fjords, but with a very distinct, historic and proud culture of Spanish Galicia.
Sailing in NW Spain is a unique adventure typically reserved to cruising sailors crossing the Bay of Biscay. Although the charter industry is almost non-existent, the area offers tremendous, albeit very challenging sailing opportunities in remote lush green Rias, deserted anchorages, forbidding cliffs (hence the Galician name of Costa da Morte), and sandy beaches (those on Isles de Cies were voted most beautiful on earth).
Finisterre is also the finishing point of the historic pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella as many pilgrims brave their feet to reach the last point of land in Spain. As of 2016, one can also join the pilgrimage on a sailboat and obtain the official compostella in Santiago Cathedral.
This little and often forgotten part of our world forever holds a special place in our hearts, as our (Patrik and Sarah’s) paths crossed on a 500mile long walk leading to Santiago and Finisterre.
